DCAF – Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance is dedicated to improving the security of states and their people within a framework of democratic governance, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. For our Operations Lebanon Office, we are looking for a motivated and highly qualified individual to be our next:
Project Manager 80%
Location: Beirut, with travel across the country
Starting date: As soon as possible
Duration: One year, renewable (subject to finance)
The role
Reporting to the Head of DCAF’s Lebanon Office, the Project Manager is responsible for supporting the implementation of projects and activities in Lebanon to support the development of DCAF’s programs related to security sector governance. This includes, but is not limited to:
In coordination with local and international experts, facilitating all project activities related to DCAF’s project on Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) so they are delivered on time and on budget;
Maintaining and developing day to day contact with key partners and stakeholders, including Lebanese Armed forces, local communities and civil society organisations;
Providing Project Management support to the CIMIC Directorate to enable them to design and deliver high quality field projects;
Preparing project-related reports, including regular financial, progress and risk reports;
Supporting the organization and conduct of programme events both locally and abroad;
Maintaining project tracking tools and updating project workplan;
In partnership with the CIMIC Directorate, liaising and engaging with communities and civil society organisations to ensure effective identification, design and implementation of CIMIC field projects;
In coordination with the DCAF Finance Officer, overseeing procurement and contracting for suppliers;
Maintaining and updating project risk register; and
Ensuring ongoing project monitoring
YOUR EXPERIENCE
An advanced university degree in law, political sciences, international relations, development, security studies or related field
A minimum of 3 years work experience in public sector reform or management, preferably within the fields of security and/or justice reform
Proven track record in Project Management, preferably in Lebanon
Experience in procurement and managing third party suppliers
Excellent command of Arabic and English (written and spoken); French an asset
Strong communication skills and ability to work in an international team
Cultural sensitivity, ideally familiarity with the Lebanese security sector
