DCAF’s Operations Middle East and North Africa (OPMENA) Division is looking for a motivated individual to support its office in Ramallah, occupied Palestinian territories (oPt) during a 6-month paid internship.

The intern will support DCAF Ramallah in all aspects of proposal writing, project management, event organisation and targeted research on Security Sector Reform and Governance (SSR/G) in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt). He/she will support the DCAF Ramallah office in editing, reviewing and writing different types of internal and external documents and publications.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Assist the Programme Managers in drafting and finalising concept notes and proposals in line with the developed strategy;
  • Assist in drafting reports and publications, such as working papers, or brochures;
  • Contribute to the editing and layout of DCAF Ramallah’s strategy for 2017;
  • Conduct targeted research on SSR and SSG in the occupied Palestinian territories;
  • Contribute to event management and handling of on-site logistics;
  • Contribute to the implementation of project activities as requested;
  • Support the Head of Office and his staff in preparing and conducting internal strategy review meetings;
  • Assist the DCAF Ramallah with other tasks as required.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree or currently enrolled in Master’s studies in International Relations, Conflict Resolution, Law, Development, Security and Peace Studies, Political Science, or related fields;
  • Proven track record in drafting and editing reports in English;
  • Ability to work towards tight deadlines;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic is an asset;
  • Previous work experience in the Middle East is an asset;
  • Ability to work independently, to be proactive and solution-oriented;
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Duty station: Ramallah, occupied Palestinian territories (oPt)

Starting date: 1 March 2017 or upon agreement

Duration: 6 months, renewable once
