Project coordinator (80%) – Latin America and the Caribbean Unit

DCAF’s Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Unit strives to strengthen citizen security in the LAC region by promoting the application of good governance principles. For our LAC Unit we are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to be our:
Project Coordinator, Gender and Security LAC (80%)
Location: Geneva, with some travel to the LAC region
Starting date: As soon as possible
Duration: 10 months with possibility of extension
The role
Under the direct supervision of the Head of the LAC Unit the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the project management of the Unit’s gender and security project in Colombia. Additionally, as the focal point for gender within the Unit, the Project Coordinator will provide support to the gender components of all other projects of the Unit and assist the Unit in enhancing its capacities and strategies in matters of gender and security.
Main responsibilities
· Manage the implementation, monitoring and reporting of DCAF LAC’s gender and security projects in Colombia as well as manage the relevant project budgets.
· Liaise with local partners and draft high quality narrative and financial reports as well as project documentation for DCAF and its donors, within established deadlines.
· Coordinate and carry out workshops and roundtables for partners and beneficiaries as part of the Unit’s projects in Colombia.
· As the focal point for gender, assist the Unit in enhancing its capacities and strategies in matters of gender and security.
· Provide project management support to other projects when needed.
Your experience
· Over 5 years of relevant experience in project management in the fields of SSG/R and/or gender;
· Experience working with security sector institutions on gender issues in Latin America and/or the Caribbean;
· Good knowledge of gender and security legal normative framework and familiarity with international policy discussions regarding gender and security, as well as Security Sector Governance and Reform.
· Experience in results-based project management and in applying concept and tools such as Theory of Change and Monitoring & Evaluation Strategies as well as experience in managing project budgets.
· Excellent communications skills and a perfect command of written and spoken Spanish and English;
· Advanced university degree (or equivalent) in international relations, peace and studies security studies, development studies, gender studies, international law or other relevant fields;
· Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland at time of application a pre-requisite.
